Why Grace?

Grace has been defined as “God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense”.  God’s grace is His giving to me so many things that I don’t deserve. I am nobody special – I certainly don’t deserve anything special! But God, in His love & goodness, lavishes His grace on me…and I especially get a front row seat to that grace in my classroom!

The most important moment of grace for me was when God revealed that I was a sinner standing in opposition to Him. His character revealed that I had a serious problem and needed help.

He was holy, and no matter what I did, I would never be able to measure up to His perfect standard.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

God is also just, and that justice requires punishment for my sin. I have broken His commands and fully deserve to face His wrath and separation forever.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

But my God is also gracious! He gave me a gift…the greatest gift that anyone has ever given me. He gave me the gift of eternal life in Heaven one day and a relationship with Himself while I am here on earth. Even while I was His enemy, He gave His perfect Son Jesus Christ to suffer and take the punishment for my sin. Christ came to earth and lived the perfect life that I could not live. He then died on the cross and faced the wrath of God for my sin that He had taken upon Himself. Three days later, He conquered death and rose from the grave and is now in Heaven interceding on my behalf.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth His love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Christ did all of this for me…and you! If you have never realized your need for a Savior, Christ is waiting with open arms. All you need to do is admit that you are a sinner and believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came and died to take your punishment.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

If you have any questions, I would love to hear from you!
